Starting work….. ending Uni

Well I made it back to England after a very LONG boat trip (10hrs) back from Ireland to Birkenhead. And then a 3-4 hour drive on home from there. The boat was seriously cramped, and rather boring.

After getting back on Sunday, I started my new job the next day. Obviously the usual policies apply so will probably trying and keep my work blogging to a minimum. Our first day was a training day (with all the new starters from different departments and different offices including a bunch of fellow LPCers). Training was basically about the history of the firm, the work they do, the staff, various polices etc. All very interesting, but it was a long day nevertheless.

Second day we started doing proper work – well more so, Basically we’re learning the organisation system. There are codes and passwords for everything, but you do start to get the hang of it. The problem is at the moment we (myself and another girl doing the same job) are moving around everywhere because our equipment won’t arrive for another 2 weeks – so get used to one department and then change. That said, it is interesting because you get a better feel of the firm and meet more people. From an geeky organisational POV I completely love their filing system, not had a proper chance to use it, don’t know if I will in my job, but I hope so.

On a different note I can now say my time at Uni has come to an end (although do have graduation at the end of the year). As those of you who also follow me on Twitter will know we got our LPC results this week: I got a distinction – so I’m really really pleased. Really thought I was hallucinating when I read the names on the board, but we also got the letter in the post the next day, which broke down the results: I got 82% in Commercial, 83% in Commercial Property and 77% in Employment (and passed professional conduct). So looks like the work paid off.

Anyhow got to dash and get ready for work, will blog more when I get used to my new timetable of work and get everything fitted in.

  1. Trouty,

Thats brilliant news on your distinction. Well done! I still don't "get" Twitter... it sounds like something else that takes up a lot of time!

  3. AW,
thanks. and yes twitter is merely a form of procrastination, and not a good thing when you have exams/little time. That said I always come across interesting things I wouldn't have otherwise seen.

    Dearest Minxy,
Thank you :) fingers (and toes) are crossed for a TC. Unfortunately, I'm not getting as much time to spend on applications as I would like, but who knows maybe this year will be the year.
Job is going well, only temporary, but hopefully they will like me and keep me on. (I need more fingers)
